The Stirling Golf Club (formerly the Mount Lofty Golf Club) is ingrained in the Adelaide Hills’ golfing community and social fabric.

It shares its designer, HL ‘Cargie’ Rymill with Adelaide’s Tier 1 golf club, Kooyonga. Cargie was also intimately involved in a number of other leading golf course designs and builds in Adelaide including Royal Adelaide, The Grange and Glenelg.

Prior to becoming a golf course, the site was home to the Mount Lofty Flower Farm and Scent Factory. Remnants of this horticultural history remain in the present day, with the original stone distillery building still standing on the site.

The time is ripe to bring the site’s unique history and characteristics to a wider audience - to introduce a boutique holiday experience, as well as a range of cultural and hospitality offerings. According to The South Australian Visitor Economy Sector Plan 2030 (page 23), there is a documented need to increase Adelaide’s accommodation supply, and the South Australian government is keen to support “unique, world-class, highly appealing visitor experiences”.
